It’s been a long time coming but it has finally happened, with the old guard in Nepali politics decimated in the March 5 election. It was called a year early by the interim government of former chief justice Sushila Karki after the regime of K. P. Sharma Oli was forced to resign on September 9 last year. It followed days of demonstrations and rioting, which showed a complete breakdown in trust between the government and Nepal’s youth.
